Gore finds his place
Gore and IPCC winning the Nobel Peace Prize is a testament to the fact that Gore really has found his place now. And guess what-- it's not in elected politics. Maybe it was in the earlier part of his career, but the maturing Gore has taken a broader position in society as educator, policy advocate, and symbol of environmental hope. His days of being an elected politician are over.
In other words, please stop calling for him to run for president. He is obviously working in his personal Zone right now. Becoming president of the US would actually be a hindrance.
I remember wondering out loud about a decade ago who would replace Carl Sagan as the popular voice of science. Gore is far, far more publicly known than Sagan ever was, but then again, the science Gore stands for is far more "popular" also. In a sense, as Sagan voiced our hopes and dreams in the Space/Nuclear era, Gore fills that role in the Climate era.
Thanks, Al. And please keep up the courage to be who you really are, not who others call upon you to be.
