Review: "Mind and Body" edited by Cecilia Tan

****************************

This is the follow-up to "Genderflex," and it's just as good, so it gets a "+" also. It's a collection of quality erotica, this time focusing on sexual encounters that have a psychic or empathic quality. Some involve some supernatural powers, while others rely on drugs or advanced technology to achieve the added dimension of connection.

This makes for powerful encounters. Imagine locking minds with your partner as you lock your bodies together. One of the more fascinating tales involves a woman who has created sex-opposite clones of herself (45 identical chromosomes, plus a Y instead of a second X). She trains them up to be sexually omnivorous (like herself, of course), and sends them out into the world to have a good time. Meanwhile, she observes them on an omniscient full-screen monitor that is connected to a system allowing her to feel what they feel.

Another one I enjoyed was "ESX," which is about a very ordinary man who discovers he has a mental link to a woman at his office. Trouble is, he doesn't know which one. But they are sharing very intimate fantasies, and he can even feel the imagined sensations. It starts out as an eye-roller, then becomes increasingly interesting as the main character proves to be more than expected at first glance. Which is basically the point of the story.

I could go on, but why not leave it a little bit tantalizing? Pick up this book when you're ready for a new dimension of erotica.
