Roughly speaking, "Class 100" means
fewer than 100 contaminant particles per million in the air (there are a few
caveats, but this is a good rule of thumb). Special filters hum continuously to
achieve this inside the Berkeley Microlab. Such cleanliness can only be
maintained if lab users wear special clean-room clothing: a "bunny
suit", hair cap, booties, and latex gloves are worn at all times.
Here is a picure of me in my Microlab attire:

Additional clothing must be worn when working
with harmful chemicals. Here I am handling ethylene diamine-- I am wearing a
respirator, a face shield, and special chemically-resistant gloves and lab
apron. (It's really a human in there, not a Stormtrooper).
